Spend a long weekend in the wine region dedicated to your sense of well-being and peace of mind. You are sure to be in the perfect place to stay and be charmed by the authenticity of the Burgundy vineyards. From Dijon, the capitale of Burgundy, you will start to explore the two renowned wine production areas : Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. Following « La Route des Grands Crus » you will discover typical and charming villages : Gevrey-Chambertin, Vougeot, Meursault, Pommard … We will show you some of the wine secrets and the delightful moments it creates.
DAY 1: Arrival in Dijon
Your hotel is situated in the heart of the city. Check in and presentation of the tour, delivery of the road book, maps and tourist brochures and bicycles. Dijon is a vibrant walkable city with a wealth of great shops, restaurants, bars and a really welcoming vibe. There are many museums, churches and traditional buildings to discover including the famous « Palais des Ducs et des Etats de Bourgogne » and Notre Dame’s church. The historic centre is a classified World Heritage and we suggest you to arrive in the morning or stay some days before your trip to have time and enjoy the magnificence of Dijon. One of the way for it, is following the « Owl’s Trail » with 22 points of interest in the city. To finish, according to the legend, if you want some good luck you need to find the tiny stone sculpture of the owl at Notre Dame’s church – touch it with your left hand and make a wish !
Overnight stay at your hotel. The dinner is not included but you have a choice amongst many possible restaurants in the town only a walk away.
DAY 2 : Dijon – Côte de Nuits vineyards – Beaune (~ 40km or ~25km with train)
After your breakfast, leave Dijon behind you slowly and ride your way up to the close countryside where begins « La Route des Grands Crus ». Then you arrive into the surrounds of Gevrey-Chambertin, the largest appellation in Côte de Nuits, Pinot Noir country and where you find some of the most famous wines including Vosne-Romanée, Fixin, Chambertin-clos-de-Bèze, Flagey-Echézeaux, Vougeot, Richebourg. You continue through the wine regions of Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny and Vougeot with vineyards all along the way on either side for a breathtaking scenery with a fresh air !
Possibly you continue by bicycle through the Highlands up to Beaune which is a nice way to go further in the vineyards or take a train from Nuit-Saint-Georges to arrive in Beaune for your overnight stay. The dinner is not included to have a choice amongst many possibilities in the restaurants in the town by walk.
DAY 3: Loop in the south surrounds of Beaune – Côte de Beaune vineyards (~30km)
To begin the day this ride will take you through the famous vineyards of Pommard, Volnay… the kingdom of Burgundy red wines. The ride is nice and mostly flat all day long. To continue some little curves allow you to go across the famous vineyards of Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, charming villages which make the best white Chardonnay wines in the world.
Back to Beaune in the afternoon. Overnight stay in the same hotel. The dinner is not included to have a choice amongst different suggestions in many restaurants and bars in the town.
Day 4 :
After your breakfast the tour is over with us but please contact us for other options and stay longer in Beaune to enjoy the beauty.
